All signs point to summer 2025 being a big one at Anfield, especially with the ongoing contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Incomings look like they will be necessary, and now it is being reported that Liverpool have identified their number one target for the window.
Brahim Diaz could be Liverpool bound
According to Fichajes, the Reds have identified Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz as their ‘number one target’.
“At 25 years old, the Moroccan international has shown consistent performance that has caught the attention of coach Arne Slot, who would be delighted to bring the player to Anfield to strengthen the Reds' attack,” the report reads.
Although the report does not reveal a potential price, it claims that informal talks have already begun and that Liverpool would be willing to make a “significant financial effort” to secure the signature of Diaz.
Valued at €39.5 million by Football Transfers, a move for the former Manchester City man who has been previously linked with Liverpool could be on the cards.
Would Diaz have a place at Anfield?
Following the news reportedly exclusively by Anfield Watch that Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota could all depart Merseyside this summer to make way for an attacking rebuild, there is a clear place for Brahim Diaz in Slot’s squad.
Capable of being deployed across the front line and as a number 10, Diaz would provide much needed depth and versatility to a new-look Liverpool attack.
Although he features regularly for Los Blancos, Diaz has only completed the full 90 minutes on six occasions this campaign, and his place in the starting XI is not guaranteed.

The promise of regular football combined with the potential of leading the new era of Liverpool’s attack could appeal to the Moroccan, and if Liverpool do have some major outgoings this summer, the addition of Diaz could be a great start to the rebuild.
