Liverpool have learned the price of an incredible double-act who could join the Reds this summer. Is £95m worth it?

Liverpool have a busy summer ahead and it's one that will see some major changes to the squad. Arne Slot has been working with Jurgen Klopp's group, or a group signed for the German, up until now.

Of course, he's worked wonders with that group. After all, Liverpool will almost certainly win the Premier League title, but that also means Slot has earned the chance to have his own squad.

It's not exactly a mystery where the new players could arrive, either. One area with a clear need to reinforcement is across the back line, with several players expected to depart.

Virgil van Dijk's contract will expire at the end of the season and while we hope he signs a new one, he's leaving as things stand. Ibrahima Konate enters the final year of his own contract in July, too, and there are doubts about his future with Paris Saint-Germain interested.

There's interest from Newcastle United in Jarrel Quansah, while Joe Gomez nearly left the club in 2024. He may be up for grabs again in 2025.

Left-back is slightly different, though. Both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are available next season but it appears Liverpool want to upgrade the position.

That likely sees Tsimikas move on as Robertson battles with his long-term successor.

Liverpool, then, are looking to bring in a couple of defenders and they may even come from the same club. Now they have a price tag.

Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen

Liverpool have been linked consistently with both Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen over the last year. The Reds actually looked at Huijsen back when he was at AS Roma, but ultimately didn't move.

The Telegraph says the interest in the centre-back is still there. Huijsen almost certainly moves this summer, too, as he has a £50m release clause in his contract.

That's Virgil van Dijk's potential successor sorted if so. But Huijsen could actually play another role - gelling with the new left-back.

The Times reports that Bournemouth are willing to sell Milos Kerkez this summer. He'd cost £45m, a steep price for a left-back, but the Cherries are up for talks.

Liverpool, then, could sign the left side of Bournemouth's defence here and get it done for under £100m. It's going to be tempting.

After all, you're getting two players who are used to playing directly alongside one another. Any questions over Kerkez's defending, for instance, (this is a player who bombs forward en masse) are potentially answered by signing a player who knows how to cover him.

That's their current role and one that could translate to Liverpool's team. These two are among the most gifted young defenders in Europe right now and tick the boxes for playing style on the ball, certainly.

£95m is going to tempt Liverpool, then. This could sort their defensive future at a time when everything is very uncertain.
