Liverpool reject RB Salzburg offer for Bobby Clark but another bid is incoming
Liverpool have rejected an offer for one of their young players. A bigger bid is expected to arrive shortly, however.
DaveOCKOP claims that Liverpool have rejected an offer from RB Salzburg for Bobby Clark. They supposedly put in a bid of around £6m but the Reds said no.
Salzburg, of course, now have Pep Lijnders as a new head coach and it has been widely reported that he wanted to bring at least one Liverpool player with him. There have been links to Tyler Morton, for instance, and now it seems Clark is on their list.
But while initial rumours were of a loan deal, Salzburg have reportedly made a permanent offer. Liverpool didn't exactly take long to reject it, though.
The suggestion here is that Salzburg will be back with another bid. That could even rival their transfer record (around £11m) as they try to pick up one of Liverpool's most talented youngsters.
Norwich City, Rangers and Leeds United all apparently want Clark, though. Salzburg will face competition for him - even with their clear connection to Anfield.
Bobby Clark's future
Clark is rumoured to be on his way somewhere after missing out on Liverpool's preseason squad. That was as good a sign as any that the Reds feel he'll be away from Anfield this season.
It's just not clear where that could be. Salzburg do have a reason to push hard for him now, though, after selling Luka Sucic to Real Sociedad this week.
So maybe that's where he ends up but it would surely be on a loan deal. Salzburg don't sell players cheap and Liverpool would view a loan there very favourably, with Clark playing under a coach he knows well and with the potential to return with a much higher value.
That's what we predict happens - certainly, a £6m offer was never going to get this one done. We're not sure £11m would, either.
