'I think we can read into that' PL legend has his say on Alexander-Arnold
Despite Liverpool’s Premier League success, three of the club’s biggest stars have faced uncertainty all season.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have spent most of the season as the topic of intense transfer speculation, but that period is coming to an end.

Both Salah and Van Dijk recently signed contract extensions that will keep them at the club for the next two seasons, but Alexander-Arnold’s future is still uncertain.
A move to Real Madrid on a free transfer feels almost inevitable at this stage, but a late winning goal and the ensuing celebration against Leicester on Sunday has got some speculating there could still be more to the Trent saga.
Ben Foster thinks Trent could be staying
One of the many spectators who was left with plenty to think about following Trent’s display against Leicester was former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Speaking in a clip on his TikTok account, Foster revealed that Alexander-Arnold’s celebration against Leicester may have been a sign his time at Liverpool isn’t done yet.

“It’s the way he looks at the crowd right, I think we can read into this a little bit,” Foster said.
“I think [Salah and Van Dijk’s extensions] come into it. I think when you score a goal and you run to that crowd and you see that love and adoration right? And you’re a Liverpool legend right? If you went a signed a new deal today, tomorrow you are in the history books of that club forever.”
Foster, who made 390 Premier League appearances, will have a better understanding of the mind of a professional footballer than most and his thoughts on Trent’s celebration will no doubt get Liverpool supporters excited.
Could Trent really be staying at Liverpool?
Speaking after the win, which moved Liverpool to within three points of their 20th league title, Trent refused to comment on his contract situation. This is the approach the 26-year-old has taken all season, so it is difficult to take any hints about his future from his silence.
After coming on off the bench, the right-back’s demeanour on the pitch didn’t seem like that of a player who is desperate for a move away. Trent’s passion for Liverpool is still clear to see.
As Foster alluded to, it is hard to imagine that the news of Salah and Virgil’s contract extensions won’t have had an impact on Alexander-Arnold, although it also feels safe to assume the player would’ve known much more about his colleagues’ futures long before we did.
It still seems unlikely that Liverpool’s vice-captain will remain in Merseyside, but the saga will not be over until an official announcement is made.

Supporters will hope that Alexander-Arnold does have a change of heart, but they will rejoice seeing the right-back lifting the Premier League trophy in a matter of weeks regardless of where Trent will be playing his football next season.
