Liverpool have been tipped to shake up their forward options at the end of this season. Several first-team stars, including Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, could be made available for transfer should the right offer materialise.

The futures of Federico Chiesa and Luid Diaz, meanwhile, are also in doubt and the Reds desperately need clarity on the Mohamed Salah situation as soon as possible.

All the while, the club have been linked with plenty of forward talent with players like Rayan Cherki, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike rumoured as potential targets.

Liverpool are going to require outgoings in order to satisfy all their transfer requests this summer with Fenway Sports Group rarely allowing a transfer splurge without recouping significant fees in the transfer market.

And one of the fringe players tipped for an exit back in the January transfer window was Ben Doak.

Doak tipped for January exit

The Scotland international, 19, was linked to both Ipswich and Crystal Palace with the Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes reported to be seeking a £30 million fee for the former Celtic starlet.

Doak has been out on loan this season, with Middlesbrough in the Championship, where has demonstrated fine form. Currently sidelined with an injury, Doak has scored three goals and added seven assists in 24 second-tier games.

It has been suggested that Doak could generate plenty of extra money for the club if they decided to cash in with Bournemouth also reported to be among his suitors.

But with space potentially clearing ahead of him in the Liverpool pecking order, it looks like Doak is going to get the chance to impress Arne Slot and force his way into the reckoning.

“Several of the loanees will get a chance to impress on the pre-season tour this summer,” writes Lewis Steele in the Daily Mail. “Ben Doak, Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic are probably the three at the top of that list.

“Doak, who is injured at the moment, has been the shining light of Liverpool loanees this season and his decisive running – I have watched him a few times for Middlesbrough – looks like something Liverpool miss.

“Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Ipswich have shown interest in signing him but Liverpool are not in a rush to sell. Slot may want to take another look at him before sanctioning any deal.”

This summer could make or break Doak’s Liverpool career, provided he can get himself fit in time for the club’s pre-season tour. There could be a gap in Slot’s line-up next season and Doak must prove he’s got the potential to fill it.
