Liverpool transfer news: Reds now 'extremely determined' to snap up £25m breakout talent

Liverpool are said to be ‘extremely determined’ to strike a deal for a £25m winger. The Reds are consistently linked now.

Fotomac in Turkey claims Liverpool seem 'extremely determined' to sign Baris Yilmaz from Galatasaray. Not that it's an easy deal to strike.

Yilmaz has left the decision entirely up to his club, who are reluctant to part with one of their biggest talents. They'd supposedly ask for over £30m in order to sell the winger - but Liverpool are looking at £25m.

That could manifest as an offer, too. The report suggests Liverpool will bid that amount shortly as they try to wrap up a deal for Yilmaz.

This is far from the first report on Liverpool's interest, either. Ankara's president says he's heard of it - his club stand to earn a portion of the fee after selling Yilmaz to Galatasaray.

Yilmaz was also in England recently, stoking the flames of transfer rumours. And German journalist Christian Falk made it clear this week that Liverpool likely have a clear path to the player if they truly want him.

Liverpool and Baris Yilmaz

Liverpool are in an interesting position when it comes to wingers. They've got plenty - but few feel reliable. Mohamed Salah is, of course, but both Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have been hit-and-miss.

That's led to links with the likes of Anthony Gordon. Yilmaz, though, would be slightly different - he plays from the right and Liverpool do lack cover for Salah.

The club can likely just about justify signing Yilmaz, then, and especially for a £25m fee. He's enjoyed something of a breakout campaign at Galatasaray and impressed at the Euros with Turkey. He's a player on the up, in other words, and could have a long-term place in Liverpool's squad.

Finding cover for Salah - and potentially a long-term replacement - is the easiest way to boost the attack this summer. Yilmaz could be the answer.
