Liverpool lose ground to Arsenal and Chelsea in race to sign £71m attacker
Liverpool are planning to overhaul their strike line next summer. This season under Arne Slot the Reds have been heavily reliant on Mohamed Salah - both for goals and assists.
The likes of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota haven’t pitched in with their fair share and it’s left Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes considering alternatives.

Should Liverpool manage to find buyers for Nunez and Jota then it’s likely they will strike for a senior forward in the summer transfer market. Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro are among the names mentioned as potential incomings.

Another player mentioned is Marcus Thuram, the Inter Milan frontman who led his side to the Serie A title last season. Inter are back on top and heading for a second straight Scudetto following their table-top showdown with Atalanta on Sunday night.
Liverpool eye £71m Thuram
The 27-year-old is under contract with Inter until 2028 but the Italian champions are said to be desperate to renegotiate his deal.
That’s because he’s got a reported £71 million release clause and his current employers would be powerless to prevent losing him this summer if the right bid comes in.

A scorer of 13 league goals this season, the French powerhouse is attracting the attention of not only Liverpool but also Arsenal and Chelsea.
Arsenal and Chelsea want Thuram
And according to a new report in Football Insider, the Reds have fallen behind the London pair in the chase for Thuram. He is also said to be on the radar for several big European teams although those sides are not named.
Liverpool’s first choice is reported to be Isak but Newcastle are likely to slap a prohibitively high figure on his signature.
Thuram has endured a long goalless streak in front of goal in recent months, only scoring once since December 23 in the league.

He has however scored in his last two Champions League outings - both against Arne Slot’s former club Feyenoord - as Inter made their way to the quarter-finals.
