Arne Slot CONFIRMS to €40m star that Liverpool will try to sign him

Arne Slot has reportedly told a €40m star that Liverpool will try to sign him this summer. There is a caveat, however.

There's a massive summer of transfer activity ahead for Liverpool. It's one the Reds have largely brought on themselves, though.

The major contract situation around the club's three most important outfield players is forcing the issue. Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contact in the summer.

All three may need replacing if new deals aren't agreed soon.

But there's also an overhaul planned up top. Liverpool want a new attack for Arne Slot, with the current lot struggling to perform under the Dutchman.

This, after all, is a forward line built for Jurgen Klopp. It's time to give Slot what he needs to keep delivering trophies.

That's not even all there is, though. Liverpool are chasing a new left-back to compete with Andy Robertson and there's a developing situation at centre-back as the futures of Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez all remain unclear.

Work is already underway, then, to get deals lined up. And it seems that Slot himself has one firmly on the cards.

Arne Slot in talks with Jeremie Frimpong

Christian Falk reported last week that Slot is in 'regular' contact with Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong. It appears he's now gone further in-depth there.

Falk claims that Slot has outright told Frimpong that he wants to sign him. He actually wanted to try and bring him in last summer but couldn't, and he now assures his compatriot that he will try to grab him in 2025.

“Jeremie Frimpong and Arne Slot were on the phone a lot last month. Both are Dutch, and Slot wanted to sign him in the summer,” Falk told CaughtOffside.

“The Liverpool head coach had been telling the fullback he was still keen to get him. However, he’s very upfront and honest, so Frimpong is aware that, at the moment, a striker and a defender are the main targets for Liverpool who aren’t going to get any fees in for Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah or Trent Alexander-Arnold should all three leave at the end of their contracts this summer.

“So, he knows that he’s No.3 on the to-do list for Arne Slot, but if the club can manage to sign both a striker and a defender – he will be the next target. His release clause is nearly €40m, so it’s a lot of money!”

It's an incredible claim - essentially suggesting that Slot has completely earmarked one player for a transfer. This coming at a time when Liverpool have so much on their agenda for the summer.

Of course, there is that caveat that he's only 'no.3' on the priority list but we certainly expect Liverpool to get three transfers done this summer. If Falk is correct, it looks near-certain that Frimpong is on his way to Anfield.
