Arne Slot and Liverpool will love what they saw this week. Their incoming star has got what it takes.

Liverpool will seriously shake things up this summer, despite almost certainly walking to the Premier League title. And what a statement that is.

But there's a lot to get through for Arne Slot and Richard Hughes. Of course, the 'big three' contracts are the major part of this as Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all set to leave for free.

That's not all, though. Liverpool will also change their attacking options and could do so quite dramatically. Ibrahima Konate's contract situation - he enters the last year this summer - also asks questions at centre-back.

Then there's left-back. Liverpool are looking at several options to challenge Andy Robertson and likely replace Kostas Tsimikas.

However, these are all still hypotheticals and it's unclear who's arriving. One position where that certainly isn't the case is in goal.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is arriving this summer. Liverpool signed him from Valencia in 2024 but left him on loan there for the campaign - but he's not staying there long.

Mamardashvili is on his way

Mamardashvili will become an option for Slot and co. this summer. The player signed for Liverpool as a first-choice goalkeeper, putting pressure on Alisson Becker to retain his place.

“I am going to Liverpool to fight for the number one spot,” Mamardashvili told Geo_Team on Thursday. “I will go there to train at my best and I don’t know what they will decide afterwards”.

“I don’t decide who plays and who doesn’t.”

Now, the Brazilian has certainly handled that pressure this season - he's been sensational at times - but a major decision arrives once the campaign is done. For both Alisson and Liverpool.

He will have options to leave the club if he wishes, with interest from Saudi Arabia previously reported. Liverpool may feel it's time to cash-in with Mamardashvili an instant replacement.

Thursday will have boosted that feeling, too. The goalkeeper kept a clean-sheet for Georgia in a 3-0 win over Armenia but it was his team's second goal that caught the eye.

Mamardashvili found himself on the ball 30 yards from his own goal and under pressure from a forward. Brilliantly, he pinged a left-footed ball over the top for a teammate, who went on to make it 2-0.

That gave the goalkeeper an assist and showed ability under pressure (and with his feet) that will excite Liverpool. That, after all, has been a hallmark of Alisson's game at Anfield.

The Reds will see that Mamardashvili has real potential there, too - and it comes ahead of their massive decision this summer.
