Liverpool force Man United and Ruben Amorim into RIDICULOUS transfer
Liverpool’s transfer policy is well-known at this stage - the club prefer to wait for the right targets to become available and act fast to secure their first choice where possible.
It’s a marked difference from other clubs, like Manchester United, who often splash the cash first and ask questions later.

There are a number of positions in Liverpool’s squad that will need addressing over the next 12-18 months - not least those of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, if they are to leave the club.
Across the squad, there are players who have been at the club for a long time: Alisson in goal, Andy Robertson and Trent in defence, Salah in attack.
The club’s meticulous planning has left Arne Slot’s squad in a good spot (even allowing for the contract situation surrounding the big three)
That planning is in contrast to Manchester United, who look like they are about to be forced into a bizarre transfer move by Liverpool.
Liverpool linked with Robertson replacement
According to the Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Liverpool and Manchester United are leading the way to sign Alvaro Carreras, who has been one of Benfica’s standout performers this season.
Carreras - who was sold by United this summer - has made 16 appearances and four goal contributions for a Benfica side who lie third in the Primeira Liga after 10 matches played so far this campaign - eight points off Amorim’s former side Sporting.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Wolves’ Ryan Ait-Nouri in recent weeks as they attempt to replace Robertson in the side. Carreras would be seen as a higher-risk option than both, given their previous Premier League experience.
The 21-year-old reportedly had a €50m release clause inserted in his contract earlier this year, and would be considerably cheaper than Kerkez, who chose to join Bournemouth over the Reds in 2023.
Ruben Amorim's Liverpool fear
Amorim's preference for a system that uses wingbacks means that he will be hoping to bring in a new left-sided player who can provide the energy he requires for the position, especially with Luke Shaw constantly injured.
Having faced Carreras in the Liga Portugal this year, Amorim could be tempted to make a move for the defender.
According to Correio da Manha, United could activate a €20m buyback clause that was part of the deal to take him to the Portuguese side.
Liverpool's interest in Carreras may force Manchester United to move in January for his signature - that is if he wants to return to the club that sold him so recently.
However, having sold Carreras so recently, it would make for such a strange move for United to resign him so quickly, and shows that while Amorim's arrival may help with on-field matters, United still have a long way to go to catch up to Liverpool.
