Mohamed Salah has spoken to the media about his love for the club, Virgil Van Dijk has been largely quiet on his situation but as captain, it is unlikely that he wants to move on anytime soon, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has been clear that his contract won't be played out in public, although speculation linking him to Real Madrid is rife.

It's a massive head-scramble that the club's executives are dealing with, and it can create a lot of negativity around the team, even though Liverpool are on track for an extraordinary season under Arne Slot, who many wouldn't have expected when Jurgen Klopp left last season.

But amongst all the transfer links for players who might leave the club are several hot talents who could join the Reds, such as Martin Zubimendi, Milos Kerkez or Antonee Robinson, to name a few.

One particular link that has developed over the last week, is a replacement for Andrew Robertson, who could also double up as a replacement for Trent.

Alphonso Davies is open to moving to Liverpool

While Alexander-Arnold could leave Liverpool on a free transfer, Liverpool are also interested in a player who could also leave a major club on a free transfer.

As a result of several failed contract negotiations over the last few years, Bayern Munich might lose Alphonso Davies at the end of the summer for free, and Liverpool are considered to be his most likely Premier League destination.

According to The Athletic, "Multiple sources [claim] that Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing the player... However, a move to Anfield is considered an unlikely outcome at present."

Known for his electric pace and all-round ability on the ball in defence and attack, Davies is a player that is similar in many aspects to Alexander-Arnold. And while he plays left-back for Bayern, it is not impossible to think that Slot could try to use him on the right-hand side if Trent were to depart.

At the time, the link looked like a one-off. A player who fans could potentially dream of, but that was all.

However, journalist Christian Falk has provided an update on the player's situation for CaughtOffside and backed up claims that Liverpool could be in for the Canadian full-back.

He said: "His agent, Nick Huoseh, will talk with any interested top club in the new year. When Huoseh is on his tour of England, Liverpool could get a meeting with him. It would be a good club for Davies, of course, given they play a style of football that would suit him. Liverpool, naturally, have a chance

"I think Manchester United and Real Madrid are more concrete by comparison at this point in time. {But] Bayern are applying pressure to sign him up to a new contract. They're still hopeful about making this work. So, Liverpool are still in the race, if they want him."

Whether Liverpool decide to proceed to look at Davies or not, the idea of signing him is a prospect that fans can definitely get on board with.

The 24-year-old is one of the most established defensive talents in the world, and securing his services for no transfer fee almost feels like stealing.

Undoubtedly, the move will depend on whether one of the Reds' big players decides to leave Merseyside, but it is clear that the club will not be short of players lining up to take their place.
