It would be a triple whammy if Liverpool were to lose Trent, Van Dijk and Salah and leave Richard Hughes in the unenviable position of sourcing replacements for all three.

However, Liverpool are ready to pounce for a high-profile free agent of their own next summer.

Alphonso Davies wants Premier League move

Alphonso Davies, the Bayern Munich left-back, has been closely linked with Real Madrid. However it would appear that the trail with the Spanish champions has now gone cold with Premier League suitors emerging as the Canadian’s most likely destination instead.

Although Bayern are said to be confident that Davies might well renew his contract, TBRFootball is now reporting that Liverpool and Arsenal are chief among the candidates to sign Davies should he leave the Allianz Arena.

“Alphonso Davies’ representatives have spoken to his suitors in the Premier League and assured them that he is seriously considering a move to England next year,” a new report states.

“Liverpool and Arsenal are emerging as contenders to secure the 24-year-old’s services.”

Left-back changes afoot

Furthermore, it’s been reported that Liverpool and Manchester United have BOTH been in contact with Davies’ entourage while the Reds and Arsenal are both being kept aware of his future plans.

Left-back is one area of the pitch which could well be strengthened by sporting director Richard Hughes in upcoming transfer windows. Antonee Robinson and Milos Kerkez are among the reported Premier League targets in Liverpool’s sights.

With Andy Robertson beginning to show signs of wear and tear and Kostas Tsimikas unlikely to be first-choice left-back in the future, it looks like there could be changes afoot in the immediate future.

Signing a bonafide world-class star like Davies for free could well be an opportunity that is too good to turn down.
