Liverpool target Alphonso Davies close to contract agreement
Expiring contracts seem to be at the forefront of everything Liverpool-related at the minute, with the big three of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s deals up come the end of the season.
Everything is scrutinised and observed so closely in order to see what might really be going on in their minds and if they’re closer to staying or leaving the Reds.

It’s also no secret that even without the contract situation of those three, there are still areas of the team that Arne Slot would be wise to address in the transfer market.
There is talk of having missed out on star Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, now heading to Manchester City, as well as ongoing discomfort around Liverpool’s options at left-back.
Whilst Kostas Tsimikas has acquitted himself well this season, it is clear for all to see that Andy Robertson’s days starting for the Reds are numbered. After years of impeccable service, it does seem that age is catching up with Robertson.
Reports have linked Liverpool with a whole host of young, exciting players in the position. Hungarian Milos Kerkez has been having a great season with Bournemouth and is attracting attention from several top Premier League clubs, and Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu is a versatile young full-back also capable of operating as a winger.
Davies close to Bayern agreement
However, one world-class talent in the position also has a contract up at the end of this season, and he has long been linked with a move to Anfield.
Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies has been established as one of the world’s best in his position ever since he helped the German giants to a treble in the 2019/20 season as a teenager. With his contract due to expire this summer, several Premier League clubs, as well as Real Madrid, were thought to be in talks with Davies over a free transfer.
It would now appear that after months of talks, he may be staying put in Munich after all. A report from The Athletic suggests that both club and player are close to an agreement that would see Davies put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with only a small gap on terms to come to a compromise over.
Whilst this is not good news for Liverpool, it should at least mean that the Reds can focus on their other targets for the position and trying to sort out some expiring contracts of their own.
