Liverpool get green light to ACCELERATE Alphonso Davies transfer
Liverpool have got what they need in order to accelerate a move for Alphonso Davies. The Canadian is reportedly on the shortlist.
The Athletic claims Liverpool are in fact in the mix for Alphonso Davies. The left-back is out of contract in the summer and his destination isn't as clear as it once was.

Everyone assumed that Real Madrid would sign Davies. It appears that's nowhere near a certainty, however, and Madrid don't hold the power over the transfer that they once did.
And so Liverpool are there, seeing what can happen. The Athletic's report makes it clear that if Davies were to move to England, Anfield would be the 'most plausible' destination.
At the same time, a move to Liverpool is considered 'unlikely'. That makes sense - the Reds won't be quite as motivated to pursue this one as certain other teams.
But we think that might have changed.
Liverpool and Alphonso Davies
Liverpool are having troubles at left-back this season. Andy Robertson is not playing well and Kostas Tsimikas is battling a bad injury for the second time in as many seasons.
And it's Robertson who is the main concern. The Scot hasn't been dreadful this season - and was Man of the Match in midweek against Girona - but he hasn't been anywhere near his best.
Too many mistakes, too many lapses of concentration. The red card against Fulham was a sign of his regression - at his best, Robertson knocks that back to Alisson Becker first-time. At the very least, his touch is secure.
And this isn't to say that Robertson is finished. He could easily regain his best form and all is well once again.
But Liverpool need to work on the idea that he won't do that. They need to work with an acceptance that Robertson won't be the first-choice left-back next season - and prepare for a new signing.
And Davies on a free could be the answer. He has got that star ability to change games and we'd love to see what Arne Slot could do with him.
No, he's not the perfect left-back and there are flaws in his game, but we'd trust Slot and co. to iron them out. If they did that, Liverpool would have a world-beater.
Robertson's form is the green light to pursue this one. Push a little harder, show a little more interest, and push firmly into the mix.
The big hope is that the Scotland captain renders it all pointless - but Liverpool can't bank on that. Here's a free transfer who could fix the left-back problem and the Reds should speed up their pursuit.
