One Liverpool star has ended talks after a massive €25m demand. He won't be getting that money.

Liverpool's 2025 is a major one. The Reds will be rebuilding their squad for the first time under Arne Slot, having not really done much at all in his debut summer.

The only actual addition to the squad was Federico Chiesa, in fact. The Italian arrived on the cheap from Juventus but Slot has barely used him.

Chiesa has just about managed to get over 30 total Premier League minutes but given it's April, that's not exactly a sign that Slot trusts him. Everyone expects the winger to leave this summer.

There was one other first-team signing in 2024, though. Liverpool completed a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvil but allowed the goalkeeper to remain at Valencia for the season.

He's set to finally join up with the Reds after this season - but how does that work? There have been absolutely no suggestions that Mamardashvili is willing to be a backup goalkeeper behind Alisson Becker.

At the same time, there aren't exactly many reports claiming Alisson could leave. Especially after the only decent link was called off last week.

Turkiye Gazetesi reports that Galatasaray have been talking with representatives of Alisson. There have been fairly consistent reports linking the Turkish giants with Liverpool's no.1 this season but it's always felt relatively unrealistic.

And it turns out that it was. Galatasaray were apparently told that Alisson would want €25m per year if he were to join them this summer.

They quickly called talks off - Galatasaray simply can't pay that. It appears Alisson won't be leaving Liverpool, then, unless someone is willing to put up a lot of money.

And that's certainly Alisson's right. His contract doesn't expire until 2027, meaning he's free to stay until then at the very least.

But also, surely that's what Liverpool want? Alisson may very well be the world's best goalkeeper and his efforts on Sunday showed him back to his peak on his first start for a month.

It's very difficult to believe that Liverpool would sell, especially as Mamardashvili hasn't been perfect at Valencia this season.

This sets up a major decision, then. Liverpool may try to keep both but that certainly leaves at least one of them unhappy. They may try to sell one of them - but that brings an awful lot of questions.
