Question marks remain over the fate of Alisson Becker too with the Brazilian linked with Galatasaray in recent days and under pressure due to the arrival of Mamardashvili.

There are suggestions that the Georgian won’t be the only goalkeeper to arrive on Merseyside this summer. Moritz Nicolas of Borussia Monchengladbach was associated with a move a couple of weeks ago and now a new name is in the frame.

Turkish goalkeeper Berke Ozer, 24, is currently starring for Eyupspor in the Super Lig, helping the promoted team overshoot expectations in their first-ever top-flight campaign.

€12m Berke Ozer on Liverpool list

His exploits have led to a call-up from national team manager Vincenzo Montella, while Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are both said to be monitoring his progress.

But Berke is not only attracting attention from within the Turkish Super Lig, he’s been named as a transfer target for several Premier League clubs - Liverpool included.

That’s according to Fanatik, which claims Aston Villa and Newcastle have also got the goalkeeper on their lists. The same report states Eyupspor are hoping to bank €12 million for their first-choice stopper.

Liverpool scouting Berke Ozer

Berke Ozer emerged from the Altinordu youth academy, joining Fenerbahce in 2018. However, club bosses struck a deal which sees Fener owed 50 percent of any fee paid for the transfer of the goalkeeper. That situation, according to Fanatik, is causing “serious discomfort” at Galatasaray.

For their part, Liverpool and Newcastle have been described as “very interested” and were reportedly in attendance for Eyupspor’s league game against Adana Demirspor on Monday night.

Fanatik also states that Berke Ozer’s DREAM is to make it to the Premier League.

If Liverpool are in the market for more than one goalkeeper of international calibre this summer then it could spell the end of Alisson’s reign at the club. He is under contract until 2027 but could be offered up for sale before his contract expires.
