Liverpool star's agent rules out BIZARRE transfer rumour

The agent of Alisson Becker has dismissed a bizarre transfer news story linking the Liverpool goalkeeper with a return to Brazil.

Signed by Liverpool in the summer of 2018 for a then-record £67m fee from Roma, Alisson has gone on to become the best in the world in his position and a mainstay of Jurgen Klopp's side.

The 63-cap Brazil international, who is currently out of action with a hamstring injury, has made 255 appearances for the Reds to date and is under contract at Anfield until 2027, having last signed an extension in 2021.

However, despite his long-term deal and status as one of the club's most important and highest-paid players, wild rumours have apparently still been circulating about the possibility that Alisson could return to his native Brazil with former club Internacional in the near future.

Alisson reportedly still holds a lot of affection for the Porto Alegre-based club he came through as a youth team prospect. Prior to his move to Europe, the Liverpool stopper made over 100 senior appearances for Inter, while he maintains close contact with the club to date — and was pictured at their training facilities on a trip back home last summer.

Apparently started by overly hopeful fans on social media, the transfer speculation involving an unlikely Alisson return, which went viral in Brazil, even led to Revista Colorada checking in with the keeper's agent, Ze Maria.

Unsurprisingly, the rumour was put to bed immediately.

“There’s nothing. There was no contact. At this moment it is impossible,” Ze Maria is quoted as saying.

Alisson injury timeline

Alisson has not featured for Liverpool since the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal last month, with the No. 1 suffering a training ground injury that has kept him out of the last six matches in all competitions.

Brazil national team manager Junior Dorival has ruled the keeper out of contention for the upcoming March internationals — a timeline since backed up by Liverpool.

Speaking before the Carabao Cup final, assistant manager Pep Lijnders told reporters: "Ali has a muscle injury. Trent, LCL. Jota, medial ligament, MCL. Curtis [has] a high ankle sprain. They will be longer out.

"Curtis is probably the first one [to come back] around the international break. All the others will be after the international break."
