Liverpool on course to SMASH their transfer record after 'private' talks
Liverpool are all set up to break their transfer record by some way this summer. The move is on.
Liverpool didn't do much business at all in 2024, with the first transfer window under Richard Hughes seeing no major additions to the squad. The Reds actually made a healthy profit.
Liverpool Transfer News Today: Reds poised to SMASH record fee as deal speeds up
Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa were the only additions. The former will link up with Liverpool this summer after remaining on loan at Valencia for a year. The latter has barely featured under Arne Slot - just a meagre 28 Premier League minutes.
It wasn't a massive surprise, though. Liverpool have never been particularly spendy in transfer windows and prefer to wait for the 'perfect' player to arrive.
Admittedly, they thought Martin Zubimendi was that player last summer but he rejected them at the death.
This time around, it seems Liverpool have targetted Alexander Isak as the 'must sign' player that they'll go all-in for. And it sounds as though they might just get him.

Alexander Isak to Liverpool
Givemesport reports that Liverpool are feeling confident about signing Alexander Isak. They're getting positive reception from their interest, it seems.
The report mentions 'private discussions' involving Liverpool that have given the impression that a deal is on. Though, there's a long way to go here.
For one, Newcastle United will almost certainly want a record fee to let the striker leave. We don't even just mean a transfer record for the respective clubs - this will likey break the British transfer record.
It may even come close to doubling Liverpool's current record arrival of £75m for Virgil van Dijk. The big question, then, is whether he's worth that.

Most will say yes, given Isak has been the standout striker in the Premier League this season. Arguably all of Europe, with his all-around game.
Slot and co. would almost certainly work wonders with him and if Liverpool hold onto Mo Salah as well, the Reds' attack feels unstoppable.
But still, there's a long way to go. Liverpool aren't the only club interested in Isak, while Newcastle will do all they can to avoid selling him.

It promises to be an interesting summer on this front, though. Liverpool are looking to make history with their new no.9 and Isak may well become the Reds' biggest ever signing.
