Liverpool get what they wanted to hear on Alexander Isak
Liverpool are in the market for Alexander Isak and got positive news this week.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed this year that Liverpool plan on overhaul their attack in the summer. It's a statement move - the belief that even a title-winning squad isn't enough to fulfil the potential under Arne Slot.

But it won't be easy to upgrade this forward line. After all, they are pushing towards the Premier League title and are among the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League.
The players are good, in other words, and this is a case of the Reds feeling there's simply more juice to squeeze out of this era. Part of that is because they feel they could sell the likes of Darwin Nunz for big fees.
And part of that is they feel the players are out there and available. One of those is Alexander Isak, who increasingly looks like a genuine option for Liverpool.

Now, we don't believe the Reds would stop at just Isak but he's absolutely on the shortlist at Anfield. It also looks like Liverpool got exactly what they wanted to hear this week.
Newcastle's Alexander Isak stance
The spotlight is firmly on Newcastle over Isak. His 22 goals this season (after 21 in the Premier League last season) have the sharks circling.
And there appears to be an understanding that Isak will be difficult to keep a hold of. The Times reports that Newcastle will try to get him to sign a new contract this summer but they aren't confident.
Chief executive Darren Eales was asked if Newcastle had the funds to sign Isak to a new contract. He dodged the question a bit, though, instead pointing to the number of years left on the Swede's contract.

“We’re going to be clear, he has multiple years left,” Eales said. “So all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal, just like we did, whether it’s Joelinton, Bruno or Anthony Gordon.
"That’s something that we will approach in the summer.”
Eales also spoke on the challenges facing Newcastle and their ability to hold onto stars.
"The reality is that all of our players are under long-term deals,” he said. “They’re committed to the club, so from that perspective, we’re not looking to move any player on. It would be crazy for us to consider it.
“If we chose to renew contracts of players and keep key players here, that means there is going to be an impact in terms of what you have available elsewhere, but Eddie [Howe] knows that and understands the financial parameters we have here.”
Don't get it twisted: this is music to Liverpool's ears. Eales is leaving the door open to a sale and prepping Newcastle fans for it with his comments.
There's an admission that renewing Isak's contract would mean a lack of signings. Eales is careful not to create any expectation that a new contract is something even likely.
They're the words of someone who knows the door is open. If Isak wants a move away, he can almost certainly get one.
Let's see how Liverpool react.

Isak has 3 years left on his contract and Newcastle don't want to sell. Also have read reports that Cody Gakpo is keen on a move to Newcastle. Sources close to the Dutch international have said he is looking for a new challenge and would favour a move to the North East.
