Liverpool get HUGE Alexander Isak boost
Liverpool have been tipped to move for a striker in the transfer market amid considerable uncertainty over Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

The Reds rejected a £70 million bid for Darwin earlier in the January transfer window from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and it was reported that the 25-year-old was also on the list of another SPL side in Al Nassr.
Jota, while reliable in front of goal, cannot be counted on to remain fit for extended spells and so the Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes may well opt for a new starting striker.
The likes of Stefanos Tzimas and Joao Pedro have previously been linked with a move to Anfield but FSG have not taken any steps to improve the strike-line for Arne Slot this winter.
Arsenal expected to MOVE for Watkins
Also linked has been Hugo Ekitike, a Frankfurt forward first on the Reds’ radar back in 2022. The Frenchman is seen as an alternative to Alexander Isak, who is being watched by Liverpool and Arsenal according to reports.
While the Newcastle striker will prove extraordinarily expensive should any club attempt to bid for him, Liverpool’s chances of signing the Swede could be about to increase significantly.
It’s been reported by Sky Sports that Arsenal have seen an initial approach for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins rejected by Unai Emery’s side but WILL return with another offer.
With Jhon Duran set for Al Nassr, it would take a monumental effort for the Gunners to get that deal over the line before the end of the transfer window.
But with the 29-year-old now clearly emerging as Arsenal’s priority striking target, it would mean that Isak is off the agenda for the Gunners if a deal goes through.
Should they end up securing a deal for the England man then Liverpool - should they choose to pursue it - would have a golden opportunity for a clear run at Isak.
It remains to be seen what Villa do in the event of Arsenal coming back with an improved bid.
