Richard Hughes has not been very active on the market since taking over at Anfield.
EXCLUSIVE: Dominik Szoboszlai’s private message to Hungary teammate revealed
For this and his dithering to tie down Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new deals, he has received a lot of criticism.
On the pitch, Liverpool have been playing well. But in the boardroom things have been slow and that could catch up with the Reds, maybe not this season but in seasons to come.
But Hughes is definitely working on trying to fix that. He's not sitting idle and it seems like he is making exciting moves as he monitors the market.
Liverpool tracking sensational forward Agustin Roberto
Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that the club's scouts are currently at the U20 Sudamericana. One of the players Anfield Watch revealed Liverpool are tracking is Deinner Ordonez.
However, there will be other players on the club's radar, too. According to TBR, one of them is Agustin Ruberto, who plays for River Plate and is an Argentinian U20 international.
Born in 2006, Ruberto only turned 19 years old recently and he is very highly regarded as an incredible goal-scorer. At U17 level he netted 24 goals and registered three assists in 31 youth international caps.
Meanwhile for River Plate's senior team, Ruberto has two goals in 321 minutes in his fledgling senior career so far.
With his track record at youth level Ruberto is very highly regarded. Liverpool are not the only team interested in his services unsurprisingly. According to the above report, Chelsea and Manchester City also hold him in high regard.
Liverpool are among the teams working on a deal to try and land him and it remains to be seen whether they can be successful.
If Richard Hughes can pull it off, it would certainly be a momentous deal.
The Reds have always had a strong scouting contingent in South America but have very rarely signed players directly from the continent.

In this sense, Ruberto would be one of the first in what is a new era at Anfield.
