Liverpool’s very own crop of stars include the likes of Trey Nyoni, who just signed his first professional contract with the Reds, Rio Ngumoha, Harvey Elliott; this list goes on.

Recently, the list for the 2024 Golden Boy finalists has been released with many incredible names in the fold. The list includes 25 of the ‘absolute best finalists’ who have had an incredible impact in their respective teams. Some of the big names include Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Manchester City defender Rico Lewis.

But Liverpool fans will be eyeing up some familiar transfer rumours on that list, including a fellow Premier League midfielder.

Wharton makes the cut

Adam Wharton, who was heavily linked with Arne Slot’s Reds in the summer, has made the nominations list this year.

The 20-year-old’s ability on the ball, playmaking and high pressing last season caused multiple big clubs to turn their heads and notice his immense talent.

The Eagles' number 20 has only been at Palace for less than a year, but a big money move doesn’t seem far away. After Liverpool’s nightmare in failing to secure a defensive midfielder in the summer, Slot may be waiting for Wharton’s valuation to drop before he swoops in to hijack Oliver Glasner’s main man.

Slot's targets honoured

Two players who also stand out on the list are Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

Mosquera, a central-defender, is an incredible servant to the La Liga giants, keeping eleven clean sheets last season and forming a formidable defensive back line which includes future Reds goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvilli. He is a strong, tenacious and rugged player who possesses phenomenal qualities, and is a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk with his contract situation still remaining uncertain.

Moreover, Gittens has quietly made his mark in the Borussia Dortmund first team, including a Man of the Match display in the Champions League against Club Brugge this season, scoring both of his team's goals. The England Under-21’s winger is a skilful playmaker, terrifying defenders with his lightning quick pace. He has recently been linked to Liverpool as potential Mohamed Salah replacement.

For Reds fans, it’s refreshing to see multiple young stars linked to Anfield. Let's hope these players can continue their good form with a bright future ahead of them.
