The Saudi spending spree doesn’t look like ending any time soon with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez all reportedly in their sights.
And the trend of veteran stars joining teams like Al Hilal and Al Nassr might soon be matched by Saudi talent being exported to Europe.
That pathway has never been well-trodden with precious few Saudi stars earning their living in European leagues. But there is one outstanding young Saudi Arabian talent who could soon be lighting up the Premier League.
According to Saudi Talents on Attackingfootball.com Liverpool and Chelsea are tracking the progress of Saudi sensation Abdulrahman Sufyani.
Liverpool and Chelsea want Sufyani
The 16-year-old forward currently plays for the Mahd Sports Academy - on loan from Mane’s Al Nassr - and is also part of the Saudi under-17 setup.
Last year he scored for the national U16 side in a friendly against an England team which included Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha. His exploits in the Saudi Youth League have been record-breaking, scoring 34 goals including six hat-tricks in a single season.
According to the scouting report on Attackingfootball.com, he has scored 88 goals in only 44 matches overall. He has also represented his country in the prestigious Montaigu Tournament in France.
Described as a versatile and technically brilliant forward, Sufyani is versatile - capable of playing anywhere across the frontline and even in attacking midfield.
He is noted for his composure in front of goal as well as for his intelligence and awareness.
Now on the radar of Liverpool and rival Premier League clubs, Sufyani has got ambitions of playing for Saudi Arabia at the 2034 World Cup on home soil.
