Liverpool have been interested in young Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu 'for months', according to an Italian report.

19-year-old Dorgu enjoyed a terrific campaign in Serie A last term, playing 32 times for Lecce as they achieved a respectable 14th-placed finish.

The left-back, who scored twice in 17 league starts, wowed during his breakout season in senior football, and the Denmark under-21 international is attracting interest from Europe's elite sides as a result.

Dorgu has previously been linked with several Serie A giants, including Milan, Napoli and recent Europa League winners Atalanta, but the teenager is also appreciated by a number of Premier League sides.

LIVERPOOL AMONG PATRICK DORGU SUITORS

According to a report from PianetaLecce, Liverpool are one of three English sides that have shown interest in Dorgu.

The Reds have been 'following him for months' but are not the only ones, with both Tottenham and Arsenal impressed by what they have seen from the starlet. The Gunners are said to have scouted him last season and are 'pressing' for a deal.

Dorgu, who can also play on the left wing, is expected to be sold this summer as Lecce look to profit from one of their assets, and the Italian side are seeking approximately €30m (£25m). The Lecce star is reportedly keen on a big-money move abroad.

How reliable these reports are remain to be seen, with Liverpool's interest in Dorgu having not been previously reported.

Liverpool are not expected to strengthen at left-back in the coming weeks, with new head coach Arne Slot seemingly content with Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and even Joe Gomez in that position.

However, injuries at left-back caused issues for the Reds last season and they may need to dip into the market for a player in that position in the near future.

Liverpool have been tentatively linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri in recent weeks, although a deal looks unlikely at this stage of the transfer window.
