Liverpool have agree to move for a world-class player as they aim to build Arne Slot's squad. Can they get a deal done?

Liverpool are certainly having to look at transfers right now. While we don't expect any major deals in January, 2025 promises to be one of major changes.

Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah are all out of contract this summer. As things stand, they're all leaving and will need replacing.

There are questions over Ibrahima Konate, Alisson Becker and Luis Diaz, too. Darwin Nunez has interest from Saudi Arabia (as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch).

It seems unlikely that all seven players are remaining at Anfield beyond this season. Liverpool will need to make some major transfers this year if they're to remain competitive.

And it appears they've collectively decided to move on one.

Liverpool start talks over Josh Kimmich move

CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have made their first move for Josh Kimmich. The Reds have done their due diligence and decided to move for the world-class Bayern Munich star.

There's a long way to go here, of course. For one, Bayern want to keep him and Real Madrid are also in the race.

But Liverpool will see an awful lot of value. Kimmich is available on a free transfer and would immediately inject some experience into the Liverpool team.

That's something that could go missing this summer as Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold and Salah all potentially leave. Kimmich's ability to play multiple positions also goes a long way to fixing the squad-exodus problems.

And so we completely see why Liverpool would move forward here. The report suggests that first step towards a transfer has started, which would almost certainly be contacting Kimmich's representatives in order to discuss interest and initial terms.

Watch this space, then. Liverpool may lose players on free transfers this season - but they might gain at least one, too.

It's better to keep the trio instead of buying players unknown to fans..

Am particularly not happy with the way things stand. Our hierarchy indeed knows the situation of three guys departing . Other teams are beefing up while our Liverpool team are just looking. Off cause we have youngsters, but these need leadership from experienced guys. Guys up there we supporters do not want to die with bp
