It was all smiles for Liverpool on Saturday as Arne Slot's side overtook Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Guardiola, on the other hand, had to endure a miserable afternoon as his City side were completely played off the park by a high intensity Bournemouth side.

It was a performance which will delight Liverpool fans, who now have a two point advantage over their main rivals.

But it wasn't just the performance that will have caught Liverpool's attention. No, there was much more to this game than meets the eye.

In fact, an absolute gem might have just unravelled for the Reds who has proven he could be ready to join Arne Slot's first team.

Why Milos Kerkez is ready to join Liverpool

Bournemouth's star of the game was Hungarian international Milos Kerkez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Kerkez registered both of the assists in Bournemouth's 2-1 victory and created four chances in the game, highlighting his offensive prowess.

Speaking after the game, his manager Andoni Iraola described Kerkez's performance as 'complete.'

"They [Semenyo and Kerkez] played very well the last few games and today they had the finishing product," Iraola told the BBC.

"Milos had two assists, we felt he deserved to get the numbers and I am happy as it was a complete performance.

"Defensively, not only them but overall, to beat a team like City you need everyone to play really well and today they did."

This was by far his best performance yet in the Premier League and the fact that it was against the Champions proves he is ready to move to the Reds.

Anfield Watch understands Liverpool have been tracking Kerkez for a long time and made an approach to sign him back in the summer of 2023.

However, Kerkez opted for Bournemouth, led by now Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, in favour of more game time.

That was a smart decision by the Hungarian. He needed to acclimatise to the Premier League.

But the situation almost 18 months later is now completely different at Liverpool.

Andy Robertson is no longer the out and out starting left-back under Slot. The left-back position is now one of the areas Hughes will be looking to address.

And who better to address that position with than the player Hughes himself initially brought to the Premier League.

Kerkez has shown today he is capable of going up against the very best and that should be enough for Liverpool to accelerate a move for a player who is in high demand with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all tracking his progress as well.
