Liverpool transfer target Jeremie Frimpong is FANTASISING about scoring the winning penalty in a Europa League final shootout against the Reds.

The Bayer Leverkusen wingback has been instrumental for Xabi Alonso’s side during this potentially record-breaking season.

Unbeaten Leverkusen are 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, into the DFB-Pokal semi-finals and have also earned a place in the Europa League quarter-finals.

West Ham lie in wait for the Werkself in the last eight, with the winners of that tie facing a semi showdown against either Roma or AC Milan.

On the opposite side of the draw, Liverpool play Atalanta in the quarter-finals with either Marseille or Benfica being the semi-final opponents.

The final takes place in Dublin on May 22 with a number of intriguing subplots emerging should Liverpool tangle with Leverkusen, although the ticket allocation is already causing consternation

It promises to be Jurgen Klopp’s final game in charge of the Reds and he will be hoping to sign off with the only trophy he has yet to win during his nine-year spell.

Klopp could face Xabi Alonso in Europa League final

Facing him could be his potential successor, and Liverpool legend, Alonso.

The 42-year-old Spaniard is the frontrunner to replace Klopp in Anfield but is also on the shopping list of Bayern Munich.

And Frimpong, 23, has previously admitted that he would be interested in a move to Merseyside.

When the question over a potential move was put to him back in February, he wasn’t holding back.

"Great club with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future holds,” he told Dutch outlet ZiggoTV

Frimpong has been on international duty with the Netherlands over the past week, playing a little more than an hour of the Oranje’s 4-0 victory over Scotland last Friday.

And in a video clip uploaded by the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) to social media, the right-sider can be seen lining up a penalty in training.

Before his run-up, he is heard to say: "Europa league final, last penalty, last penalty against Liverpool.”

Liverpool are facing uncertainty in the right back position with Trent Alexander-Arnold being linked with a high-profile move to Real Madrid either this summer or in 2025 when his contract expires.

Should the Reds face the unwelcome prospect of losing their homegrown talent, they could do a lot worse than signing one of the outstanding wingbacks in European football in Frimpong
