FSG struck GENIUS triple Liverpool transfer that no one recognised
FSG is not averse from criticism but sometimes the Reds' owners do make the right decisions.
This was especially true in the summer of 2023. For months leading up to the window, Liverpool fans were all in tunnel vision looking at one man and one man only - Jude Bellingham.

At the time, he was the player Liverpool fans all wanted to join the Reds. He was almost seen as a second-coming. The midfielder to finally replace Steven Gerrard and carry Liverpool to the next level.
But while Bellingham was (and is) and elite talent, Liverpool decided to pull out of the deal to sign him. Who knows what might have happened had they not done so.
That gave Real Madrid the opportunity to complete a deal for the England international meanwhile Liverpool opted to rebuild their midfield in a much more 'FSG' way.
Instead of splashing the cash on Bellingham, Liverpool decided to do a complete midfield rebuild and bring in not just one but three midfielders instead.

Those midfielders were of course Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. That triple deal has essentially been the backbone of Liverpool's title success and FSG hardly get the recognition for it.
But it was their policy which delivered a genius triple transfer in the summer of 2023. Without FSG's model being in place, Liverpool might have splurged all out on Bellingham and have come to rue it.
Arsenal defeating Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League proved one man alone is not enough to dominate a midfield that is well-organised and coached.
Bellingham struggled to make an impact on the night and demonstrated just why Liverpool were justified in not making a move for him.
Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have become a well organised unit and now no one would argue that bringing the three of them in was a much better deal than just signing Bellingham alone.
The trio have played a pivotal role in Liverpool's inevitable Premier League title success. They have transformed the Reds to be the best team in the league, even better than Arsenal.
Without the trio, it's moot that Arne Slot would be in the same position right now. And Liverpool would also look very different if this team was lining up with Bellingham alongside Jordan Henderson and Fabinho - both of whom are past their primes.
The idea of Bellingham coming to the club, which was once so alluring, now seems like a ridiculous idea.
It's also a foreshadowing of what is to come this summer. So many are desperate to sign Alexander Isak. But the reality is Liverpool need to rebuild their entire attack - one player alone will not solve the problem.
That's why the Reds will likely apply the same approach this summer and in years to come they will again be applauded for it.
But for now, in the aftermath of that Real Madrid defeat and Liverpool's inevitable league title success, it's time to give FSG the credit they deserve.
