Liverpool transfers: Fabrizio Romano confirms first signing under Arne Slot

The summer transfer window is set to close in a week and Liverpool have finally made their first signing according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Liverpool have been the only club in the Premier League to not bolster their squad this summer after failing to secure Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

The Reds had been tipped by Romano to have a busy end to the window but so far there has been significantly more outgoings than incomings.

First signing of the Arne Slot era

According to Romano, Liverpool have secured the signing of wonderkid Alvin Ayman from Wolves.

The 16-year-old will join the Reds on a five-year deal, with a £2 million compensation fee agreed.

Ayman has already been compared to 17-year-old Trey Nyoni and is set to follow a similar path, rising through the ranks and potentially catching the eye of first-team coach Arne Slot.

The Reds hope that Ayman will be the next big young talent to head to Anfield, following the likes of Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon and James McConnell.

Despite the number of the outgoings of 'Klopp's Kids' it seems the club are still looking to follow a similar philosophy of bringing in young talent to bolster the squad.

Liverpool also close in on Mamardashvili

Youth players have flourished on Merseyside in recent years with this set to continue under Slot.

This isn't the only signing set to be completed by Richard Hughes before the August 30 deadline.
