Liverpool are ALERT to the potential January availability of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was also linked last summer with the winger at a contract impasse with Napoli.

Unhappy with his €1.5 million pay packet, the Georgian was agitating to leave the Diego Maradona Stadium with the Reds, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona among the reported suitors.

But Kvara stayed put with Antonio Conte’s team, scoring five goals and adding three assists in the Serie A season thus far. The left-winger is under contract until 2027 but it appears Napoli are now prepared to face a sale for the wantaway forward.

The Athletic's David Ornstein claimed on Thursday night that Liverpool 'could consider' a January move for Kvara.

"Liverpool are not specifically chasing a player of Kvaratskhelia’s profile but he is somebody they admire, are keeping tabs on and will be ready to contend for if it becomes a market opportunity," he wrote.

Napoli want to sign Chiesa

That opens up an enticing transfer possibility with Liverpool's Federico Chiesa admired at Napoli. If Napoli are to lose their talismanic wideman then replacements will need to be sourced and the latest reports are that the Partenopei are looking towards Anfield.

Sky Italia is reporting that Conte wants Chiesa, even though his agent said last week that there was no chance of the Italian international leaving Merseyside on loan this January.

It’s been a frustrating season for Chiesa so far, with the 27-year-old unable to force his way into Arne Slot’s team due to injury and illness issues. He has been mentioned as a potential transfer target for Atalanta, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Roma as well as Napoli but it looks as though the Naples side have moved ahead in the race.

If the situation develops that the Reds could use Chiesa as a makeweight for Kvara then surely that is one deal that sporting director Richard Hughes couldn't turn down.

Kvaratskhelia was reported to be available for around €100m last summer, with that fee now sitting at around €80m, and including Chiesa could bring that price right down.

PSG are also reported to be back in for the 23-year-old according to Fabrizio Romano, as are Chelsea. The French side could also end up doing a player-plus-cash deal for Kvaratskhelia, with Milan Skriniar among the players mentioned as potential makeweights.

And even if PSG do sign Kvara, that leaves Napoli open as a potential destination for Chiesa should the Reds look to offload.

Liverpool’s priority this winter remains getting renewals for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah over the line. They could also opt to loan out Tyler Morton while Calvin Ramsay is set for another loan following a disappointing stint at Wigan in the first half of the season.
