Liverpool tried to sign 100-goal forward DAYS before transfer DEADLINE
Liverpool's recruitment team tried to sign a prolific forward before the end of the summer transfer window.
It has been an underwhelming transfer window for Liverpool. However, the last few days certainly offered plenty of excitement with Federico Chiesa coming in to join the club.
Although there might have been even more excitement as Liverpool were reportedly in the market to make further signings right until the end of the window.
According to the latest reports, the club even tried to explore a move for a very prolific forward, who already has over 100 career goals under his belt at just 25-years-old.

How Liverpool tried to sign Victor Osimhen before transfer deadline
Victor Osimhen has been highly admired by Liverpool scouts for years. The club tried to sign him while he was playing at Lille, but he ultimately opted to join Napoli instead.
Now though, the Nigerian is once again on the market and during the last few days of the window he was in talks with several Premier League clubs in a bid to leave his current side.
According to Corriere dello Sport, one of those clubs was Liverpool, who tried to bring in the 25-year-old before transfer deadline. However, in the end, the opportunity fell through with Liverpool unwilling to match Osimhen's high wage demands.
This has seen Osimhen 'stuck' at Napoli. The prolific forward who has 114 club career goals in 223 games has now been banished to Napoli's reserve team and faces the prospect of the next six months playing in Italy's lower tiers.
There is a chance that Osimhen could leave the club with Saudi Arabian clubs also interested in the forward. However, at this stage, that seems unlikely.
Whether Liverpool would be open to exploring a move again in the January window remains to be seen.
Certainly, in order to make that a possibility, Osimhen would need to lower his wage demands.
