It could be heartbreak for all involved and the pain would be intense.

Liverpool will be in a period of limbo. With Federico Chiesa signed to challenge Salah, this transfer looks to have backfired with the Italian seemingly injury prone.

Is Mbeumo the Salah regen?

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been firing on all cylinders. The Cameroonian has turned defences inside out since the Bees debut season in the Premier League in 2021. And this season is no different.

The 25-year-old has bagged eight goals in nine Premier League games putting him second in the top-scorers list behind Erling Haaland.

There is so much to like about the winger. He has a tenacity to drive at players with incredible pace while also making those outside to inside runs, a similar attribute to Mo.

Some of his stats from last season were also similar to Salah's.

Thomas Frank's main man had an expected Goals haul of 7.2. (after 12 games). He’s not heavily reliant on volume either averaging just 2.8 shots per 90 - so there’s every chance his threat scales when in a better side.

Now, a recent report from talkSPORT has again linked the playmaker to Liverpool, but face competition from other rivals. The article states Mbeumo is “attracting the attention from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle and prompted Bees manager Thomas Frank to tout him for a move to a bigger club.”

Brentford have slapped a £50 million price tag on the dynamic forward, a price come the end of the season, could end up being a bargain.

His brilliance has been highlighted before and his connections to the Reds don’t seem to be quietening.

Fans will be hoping that Salah stays on. But if this isn’t the case, Mbeumo is the perfect package to continue his legacy.
