Liverpool transfers: Al-Nassr to try for Alisson if Man City dodge Ederson talks
Manchester City have until the end of the weekend to agree a deal with Al-Nassr for goalkeeper Ederson, or else Saudi chiefs will activate their plan to go after Liverpool's Alisson Becker instead.
That’s according to a new report in Teamtalk, which claims City are determined not to lose their Brazil international shot-stopper on the cheap.
A deal has already been struck between Al-Nassr and Ederson’s camp, according to the report, with the 30-year-old set for a £200,000 per week contract in the Saudi Pro League.
Negotiations are being commanded by Public Investment Fund (PIF) leaders, who also own Al-Ittihad, and they too are looking for a high-quality goalkeeper this summer.
Should City drag their feet over a deal throughout the weekend then Saudi officials are ready to put in motion their plan to take Alisson from Liverpool.
PIF determined to land top goalkeeper
And if negotiators are successful in chasing both Ederson and then Alisson, then one goalkeeper will each be assigned to Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad.
Alisson, 31, is not pushing for a move away from Anfield and is seeking to remain in position as Brazil’s No.1 but Al-Nassr are determined to change his mind.
If efforts fail to entice Alisson then PIF has lined up a range of back-up options including Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Athletico Paranaense shot-stopper Bento - also on the list for Liverpool.
These are crucial days for Ederson talks and Liverpool could well be facing bids for their No.1 by next week.
Brazil international Alisson has been with Liverpool since 2018, winning top honours in the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup among other competitions.
He has also won The Best FIFA Goalkeeper award and is a two-time nominee to the FIFA FIFPro Men’s World 11.
Alisson is contracted until 2027 at Anfield and is among the club’s highest earners on a reported £210,000 a week.
