'We need him': Mo Salah defends star likely to LEAVE Liverpool

Liverpool's Mo Salah have jumped to defend the importance of Darwin Nunez at Liverpool. It comes after a win over Southampton in which both were heavily involved.

Nunez was this story, really. The Uruguayan was the main man as the Reds turned the game around.
A couple of errors at the back gave Southampton the lead at Anfield. That was a shock, of course, given this was the team at the distant bottom against the team at the distant top.
But take the lead they did. It happened right before half-time at that - Arne Slot's team needed to come out with a much different intensity for the second half.
And that's what they got. Nunez led the charge, first scoring and then winning a penalty for Salah's first goal.

He went off shortly after that - a sign that Slot wants him ready for Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday?
Mo Salah on Darwin Nunez
Salah took this display as an opportunity to praise Nunez and his importance to the team. He does that as the striker is heavily linked with a move away.
"He is a very important player for us," said Salah, per Liverpoolfc.com. "I’m always there talking to him.
"He is very important, we need him. And you saw him also in the last game against PSG, he was very important when he came in, making a difference.

"Good for him."
It's no shock that Salah has pointed out how valuable he considers Nunez to be. The Egyptian is a massive fan of his teammate.
But it comes at a time when Nunez is heading for the exit door. Liverpool rejected a bid in January from Saudi Arabia, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch and it's thought they'll return in the summer.
Slot has also been using Nunez less and less in recent times. The striker is perhaps forcing his way back into the lineup with his last two performances - but Anfield Watch understands a major overhaul of the attack is planned this summer.
Nunez's time at the club does appear to be running out, even with Salah's support. Let's just see what the next few months bring - you never truly know with Nunez.
