Liverpool are expected to lose out on a deal for one forward with Saudi Arabia set to win again.

Liverpool will move to restructure their forward line later this year. Anfield Watch understands a full overhaul is planned, with the club wanting to hand Arne Slot an attack built for his style of play.

Until now, of course, Slot has dealt with Jurgen Klopp's squad. This squad was literally built for his predecessor, with Federico Chiesa the only addition last summer.

Chiesa, however, has barely played - just three Premier League appearances that combine for under half an hour of football. And given Slot's start to life at Liverpool has been so ridiculously good, he's earned the right to have things rebuilt for him.

But there are other factors at play. Mo Salah, for instance, has an expiring contract and it's not yet clear whatsoever if the's staying or going.

The closer we get to the summer, though, the more it feels like he'll be off. Liverpool must prepare themselves for that eventuality, which means finding new wingers who could potentially replace him.

It appears they've moved in that direction already, in fact - though, unsuccessfully.

Liverpool's Kingsley Coman plan

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg claims Liverpool have asked about Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman. He's fully expected to leave Bayern in the summer - and the club are ready to sanction a transfer.

He'd cost up to €40m for any interested parties and it appears Liverpool may feel that's a solid price. While Plettenberg says there's nothing further than a question at this stage, the Reds are weighing things up.

We imagine this is stage one of the post-Salah plan. Liverpool need to know who's available and who might move to them in case the Egyptian departs.

But it also appears that it won't be Coman. Plettenberg says he's prioritising a move to Saudi Arabia above all and it suggests Liverpool would struggle to convince him.

After all, players pick Saudi Arabia for one reason - the incredible amount of cash heading their way. Liverpool aren't going to compete on that front.

No one can.

So we imagine the Reds will need to find other options for the attack next season. The Coman plan has ended before it started, to be honest.
