Liverpool’s attacking options are in abundance so far this season.

We are spoilt for choice. Cody Gakpo looks like a different player, Luis Diaz is terrorising defenders with speed and skill while Mohamed Salah is on course for another record-breaking season.

With Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa waiting in the wings eager for their shot to contribute, it seems as though we are in a privileged position.

However, it seems Diaz is struggling to reach recent contract negotiations with the club and the winger could find himself on his way out with his future looking uncertain.

And his perfect replacement looks set to make a big move, but to one of the Reds' title rivals.

Liverpool set to lose out on Cunha

Matheus Cunha is having the season of his life. He has registered 10 goals and four assists in his 19 Premier League games this season.

In an underwhelming Wolves side, he has been the shining beacon of hope which has propelled their form and seen them leap out of the relegation zone.

Operating mainly as a striker, he is exactly what Liverpool could need. His directness, finishing and physicality would have Arne Slot drooling.

But he may be a case of ‘what if’.

Football Insider has recently reported that Arsenal are ready to swoop in for the Brazilian star.

“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Arsenal are pushing to land the attacker in the mid-season window, which shuts on 3 February.”

This comes after Bukayo Saka was confirmed to be ruled out for several months following a surgery to his hamstring. The Gunners are looking to head into the market and find his temporary replacement, with Cunha being high on the list.

But the report also identifies that Wolves are reluctant to let him go and Arsenal will have to overcome a stern stance from the club.

This would be a major loss for Liverpool. A player of Cunha’s quality and goalscoring flair would sincerely bolster Slot’s already powerful striking options.

Wolves still find themselves in a battle for the drop and if they were to be relegated to the Championship, the Reds could find themselves capitalising on a major deal, with his price majorly cut.

They have recently begun new contract talks with the player, but Arsenal’s interest seems strong and temptations could take over. If he were to leave for North London, it may be something the Reds severely regret.
