Here are the 10 youngest Liverpool goalscorers in history. The Reds saw two teenagers make the list against Southampton.

Liverpool have had a plethora of remarkable young talents down the years - several of which didn't take long to start scoring goals. That was extremely evident in the FA Cup against Southampton in midweek.

Both Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns got on the scoresheet and both now sit among the 10 youngest goalscorers in Liverpool history. Here is that top-10 list - and what became of the players.

Lewis Koumas made his Liverpool debut against Southampton in the FA Cup and scored the opener before half-time. Not only did he become the 10th-youngest goalscorer in the Reds' history with it, but he's also the fourth-youngest debut scorer for the club.

It could be the start of a very special career.

9. Stefan Bajcetic (18 years 2 months 4 days )

What really stands out about Stefan Bajcetic on this list is that he'd actually played a good number of games for Liverpool before scoring his first. Most grabbed it on their debut or in their first two or three - Bajcetic had played in three different competitions before grabbing goal no.1 against Aston Villa in December 2022.

Of course, he's another whose future in the game is still to come. A massive talent, though - once he's fit again.

8. Jimmy Melia (18 Years 1 Month 16 Days)

We're going back some way here. Jimmy Melia scored on his Liverpool debut all the way back in 1954, becoming the club's youngest-ever goalscorer in the process. The Reds were a Second Division side at the time and Melia would play a role for a decade, helping them earn promotion under Bill Shankly.

Melia played nearly 300 games for Liverpool as a midfielder before leaving in 1964.

7. Jayden Danns (18 years 01 month 12 days)

Jayden Danns didn't just score one against Southampton but two - becoming the second-youngest to score a brace for the club. But the striker also claims 7th on the list of youngest Liverpool goalscorers.

The Scouser has only played three games of senior football - all as a substitute - but already boasts a trophy and two goals. This could be the start of something very special.

6. Raheem Sterling (17 years 10 months 12 days)

Liverpool signed Raheem Sterling from Queen's Park Rangers when he was 15 and there was immediate hype. That hype proved absolutely justified once he broke into the senior side at 17. It took him no time to settle into a proper role with the first team.

The goal that Sterling scored to put him on this list shows that. While many came in the cups against lower-league opposition or were the third in a 3-1 win, Sterling's was the winner against Reading in a Premier League game back in 2012. Of course, the player would become key for Liverpool before forcing a move away in 2015, staining his reputation at Anfield as a result.

5. Ki-Jana Hoever (17 years 08 months 07 days)

Another unique player on this list - Ki-Jana Hoever comes in at no.5 as a defender. He joined Liverpool from Ajax with a big reputation but never lived up to it, departing without playing a league game. In fact, Hoever only ever managed four appearances.

The second of those came in an EFL Cup tie as Liverpool took on MK Dons in September 2019. Hoever scored the Reds' second goal - making some history in the process as the youngest defender to ever score for the club.

4. Jordan Rossiter (17 years 05 months 30 days)

Jordan Rossiter has long been a name Liverpool fans knew from the academy. He would eventually get his debut at 17 in a 2014 League Cup tie against Middlesbrough and it appeared that all the hype was true.

Rossiter scored from 30 yards in under 10 minutes - something that suggested he really was the 'next Steven Gerrard'. However, this would prove to be the highlight of his career. Rossiter never clicked with the seniors and played just 14 Premier League minutes before leaving in 2016.

3. Michael Owen (17 years 04 months 22 days)

Michael Owen is one of the greatest teenage footballers in history and it all started from game no.1. Owen bagged on his Liverpool debut at 17 to end the 1996/97 season - he'd win the Premier League boot a year later. And the year after that. He remains the youngest league goalscorer for the Reds.

The Ballon d'Or followed in 2001 and really, the standards Owen set for a young player at Liverpool are unreachable for anyone else. What a shame he threw it all away.

2. Kaide Gordon (17 years 03 months 04 days)

Unlike the rest of the top four, Kaide Gordon was a signing for Liverpool. They brought him in from Derby County but quickly gave him an opportunity in the first-team. His second appearance brought a goal in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town in 2022.

Unfortunately, a hip problem drastically limited Gordon's appearances since. He didn't play at all in the 2022/23 season and is only just back in action in 2024. Still, the future remains bright.

1. Ben Woodburn (17 years 01 month 14 days)

The hype around Ben Woodburn was massive when he got his opportunity in 2016. It's easy to forget that of the two kids breaking into the first-team that season, he was considered by far the bigger prospect. The other was Trent Alexander-Arnold.

And so when Woodburn scored against Leeds United and topped the list of youngest Liverpool goalscorers, the hype felt real. A year later, he scored a brilliant goal for Wales and became their second-youngest goalscorer.

But Woodburn just never found his feet at the top level. It would be his only Liverpool goal and the nine appearances he made in his debut season were the most he'd ever make. Only two followed, in fact.
