Liverpool told Jurgen Klopp 'could walk' after embarrassing 3-0 Wolves defeat

Former Premier League striker and pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft believes Jurgen Klopp 'could walk' as Liverpool crumbled to a calamitous 3-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Joel Matip's unfortunate own goal put Wolves 1-0 up, but Julen Lopetegui's side took complete control of the game moments later as Craig Dawson scored his first for the club. Ruben Neves added to Liverpool's misery with a goal in the second half as the Reds' season reached a new low.

Jan Aage Fjortoft took to Twitter after the game and suggested that while Jurgen Klopp wouldn't get sacked as Liverpool boss, he believes the German could walk as the Reds' alarming downward spiral continues.

Speaking after the defeat at Molineux, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Liverpool manager struggled to explain his team's on-field issues but went on to admit that he still knows how good his players are.

“It's really difficult to summarise. The team is not full of confidence, you can see that. I don’t think they are [at their] best in the moment and do I like that? No. But I still know how good they are.

“You know my job, I know my job, my job is not to explain here how I can build up my team.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Jurgen Klopp committed his future to the club until 2026 and no matter how the rest of the season pans out, he will stay at the club and attempt to turn around our fortunes. That said, it's arguably the toughest test of his managerial career to get the Reds firing on all cylinders again as they currently look desperately devoid of confidence and ideas on the pitch.

The gaffer might need to make a handful of tough decisions this summer as several of his underperforming stars run the risk of being phased out of the team. No one knows what'll happen in the summer in terms of transfer, but Klopp's position at the club is unlikely to be challenged.
