Liverpool players and staff will hold a minute's silence on Monday 15 April to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

It was 35 years ago today in which Liverpool's semi-final FA Cup encounter with Nottingham Forest took a tragic turn, with 97 of the club's supporters losing their lives as a result.

Liverpool marked the anniversary with an impeccably held minute's silence prior to the match with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday and there will be another minute of reflection this Monday at exactly 15:06 PM (GMT).

The Reds announced the decision on the club website, writing: "On Monday April 15, players and staff across the club will observe a minute of silence at 3.06pm in memory of the 97 men, women and children who lost their lives.

"April 15 is a significant and poignant date in the club’s history and one which brings LFC together in remembrance and thought to remember the 97 who lost their lives and to share love and support for their families, the survivors and all those impacted by the tragedy."

LFC Women also held a minute's silence during their closest home fixture which took place against Manchester City a fortnight ago, while the club's academy players have been taking part in a range of events regarding the tragedy.
