Liverpool to avoid Arsenal investigation
The EFL has no plans to investigate Liverpool over the postponement of their game with Arsenal last week, that saw the EFL Cup game due to take place at the Emirates cancelled.
Liverpool will now play the first leg of the tie at home this Thursday, with the second leg now taking place in north London on Thursday 20th.
Indeed, the postponement came about after a number of positive covid tests were recorded within the Liverpool playing and coaching staff, meaning a team could not be fielded.
Jurgen Klopp, though, has since revealed that a number of those cases were actually false positives with some then going on to suggest that Liverpool could have played last Thursday - though that is not the case as rules still needed to be followed.
Indeed, the EFL has no plans on investigating the situation, as per the Standard:

It would be a total nonsense if Liverpool were suddenly under investigation for this.
The Reds completely played by the rules in informing the relevant authorities that they had positive cases - obviously not knowing in the days after they would prove to be false positives.
The right course of action was taken, and the hope just has to be that all of this stuff soon comes to an end once the pandemic comes to a conclusion.
