Liverpool tickets: Supporters' union blasts Anfield ticket price increases

Liverpool's supporters' groups have been left 'incredibly disappointed' by the club's ticket price increases ahead of the 2024/25 season.

On Thursday, Liverpool FC issued a ticketing update for the coming Premier League campaign, which confirmed a two per cent rise for season tickets and members’ matchday tickets.

The club statement put the price hike down to "a result of significant increase in costs across the club. In the past six years annual operating costs for Anfield have increased by nearly 40 per cent."

The price increase on season and matchday tickets is supposedly the lowest rise so far across the Premier League, while the club has committed to freezing ticket prices for juniors and its local tickets priced at £9.

The statement notes: "Junior tickets have now been frozen at Anfield for 10 consecutive seasons."

The price increase announcement was not well received by supporters' union Spirit of Shankly, who suggested fans had been ignored in a statement on X (Twitter).

The group posted: "There’s been no meaningful consultation with supporters over this & it was totally opposed by SOS & the majority on the Supporters Board

@SpionKop1906 - it doesn’t reflect the discussions we had when they informed us of their plans. We are incredibly disappointed with @LFC

This was followed up by fan group Spion Kop who posted on X: "At a time of record revenues, LFC want an extra £1m from their loyal supporters. An amount that means little to the club but might mean everything to a supporter."
