Although Arne Slot’s squad is currently without any reported injuries or suspensions ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match against Brentford, a number of Liverpool players are still set to miss out on the matchday squad.

Joe Gomez

Reason: transfer interest

Joe Gomez was left out of the travelling squad for Liverpool’s opening fixture at newly promoted Ipswich Town as the 27-year-old was reportedly considering his future at Anfield.

Although there has been more speculation, a transfer for Gomez doesn’t seem to be any closer to completion and so the versatile defender could be absent from this weekend’s game against Brentford at Anfield too.

If a deal is not agreed before the window shuts on August 30th, Gomez could be brought back into the matchday squad when Liverpool take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 1st.

Stefan Bajčetić

Reason: transfer interest

Bajčetić was another player who missed out on Arne Slot’s first Premier League matchday squad and it looks like the youngster is set to move away from Anfield on loan after spending almost all of last season injured.

Football Insider are reporting that Liverpool have been “besieged” with offers for the 19-year-old and, after he also missed out on the squad for Liverpool U21s’ recent match against Manchester City U21s, he looks set to be left out of the first-team squad again this weekend.

With lots of interest reported in the Spaniard it may not be long until a deal is agreed.

Tyler Morton

Reason: transfer interest

Morton was one of  the young talents who played minutes in the Reds’ pre-season but, as reported earlier in the summer, there is plenty of interest in the 21-year-old who impressed on loan at Hull last season.

It was suggested earlier in the window that both Morton and Bajčetić could play a part in Liverpool's first-team this year, with the number 6 position being a notable weakness in the squad. However, it now looks like one or both of the youngsters could be leaving Merseyside before the end of the summer.

Ben Doak

Reason: transfer interest

Doak is another player who missed out on both the first-team and U21s squads last weekend and interest in the young star has been no secret.

Newly promoted sides Southampton and Leicester City have both been linked with a move for the 18-year-old and Liverpool are set to consider both loan and permanent offers for the teenager.

An Anfield Watch poll on X revealed that Liverpool fans would be keen to see Doak go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience and this could soon come into fruition.
