Liverpool return to European action this Thursday, as take on Toulouse at Anfield.

The Reds are two wins from two in Group E and can make it a clean sweep in the first half of the group stage with victory over their French opponents this week.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted there will be changes to the lineup that saw off Everton 2-0 at Anfield last weekend, but 'not too many' with the boss insistent that Liverpool are taking Europe's second tier competition seriously.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Klopp provided updates on some of the availability issues and question marks in his squad.

Andy Robertson

The Liverpool manager confirmed that Andy Robertson underwent surgery on his shoulder injury on Wednesday, but refused to put a timeline on the left back's recovery.

He said: “Robbo had surgery and all went well, as good as it could be, so the recovery starts after he wakes up. I think it happened this morning. That’s it. We don’t know how long it will take or whatever, but the first step is done, that’s good."

Most predict that Liverpool's number 26 will miss the rest of the calendar year.

Cody Gakpo

Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo is available for selection again and could face Toulouse after recovering from the knee injury he suffered in the defeat to Tottenham last month.

Klopp revealed: “Cody is in full training now since Sunday, which means he is available for the squad. Whatever we do with that we will have to see, but that’s good as well.”

The Dutch forward missed the Reds' games against Brighton and Everton, as well as international duty for the Netherlands during October.

Thiago Alcantara & Stefan Bajcetic

Less positive, Klopp admitted that Spanish duo Thiago Alcantara are still "not in team training" as they continue to battle with long-term issues.

19-year-old Bajcetic, who suffered a season-ending injury back in March, has featured twice in 2023/24, but has since picked up a calf injury, which has set back his return to full fitness.

Thiago is yet to play a minute of football this season and last started for Liverpool in February.

17-year-old winger Doak could be in line to return against Toulouse, after missing out on a place in the Reds' matchday squad for the Merseyside derby win due to a knock.

The youngster picked up a muscle issue during the international break with Scotland Under-21s, but the issue is not believed to be severe.

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones is available for selection in the midweek clash, but will miss Sunday's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder, who was sent off in the defeat to Spurs, has served two of his three-game ban, which only applies to league fixtures.
