Jurgen Klopp is heading back to Anfield sooner than might have been expected as his wife, Ulla, has scored them tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras tour next month.

‘Swifties’ will descend on Liverpool across three nights in June, from Thursday 13 until Saturday 15, with 150,000 fans expected to attend the gigs at the home of Liverpool Football Club.

Klopp and Ulla will be among them, with James Pearce of the Athletic revealing that the outgoing Reds’ manager shared the news during his last week in charge and was also spotted singing one of Taylor’s biggest hits, “Shake it Off”.

It’s the first time Swift has brought her landmark Eras tour to England, having already visited FIVE continents. Further UK dates are scheduled for Edinburgh, Cardiff and London.

The dates in Liverpool will deliver a significant boost for the local economy and, because it is hosting the concert, to Liverpool’s coffers.

The Barclays “Swiftonomics” report estimates that the UK economy stands to benefit to the tune of £997 MILLION thanks to Taylor’s concerts.

Former Liverpool CEO Peter Moore, meanwhile, revealed back in 2018 that football clubs received a significant cash boost for hosting concerts and other non-football events.

"Non-football events are massive," he told the Financial Times. "What do those events do? They fund football."

This isn’t the first time a massive gig will be hosted at Anfield. Liverpool City Council granted permission to host concerts there back in 2018 with Take That, Bon Jovi and Pink all performing there in 2019.

In 2022, the Eagles, The Rolling Stones and Elton John all played to adoring Anfield crowds, although no concerts took place last year due to redevelopment works on the stadium.

Pink will be back later this summer but it’s the Taylor Swift dates that have really got the city talking.

Liverpool - world's most renowned music city

Liverpool will be turned into “Taylor Town” ahead of the gigs with 11 art installations representing Taylor’s different eras going up around town and plenty of other events taking place.

One of the world’s most renowned musical cities, Liverpool hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 and is also famously the hometown of The Beatles among other beloved acts.

"You'll Never Walk Alone" has been Liverpool's anthem since being made famous back in 1963 by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Guitar virtuoso Eric Clapton delivered a version dedicated to Jurgen Klopp in the city last month.
