Liverpool target Rodrygo RESPONDS to report that he could leave Real Madrid

Reported Liverpool transfer target Rodrygo has hit back at suggestions that his future could lie away from Real Madrid, describing the Spanish capital side as ‘the club of my life’. 

Earlier this week, the Brazilian granted an interview with DAZN, in which the question of his future came up. 

With Endrick and Kylian Mbappe set for the Bernabeu this summer, the 23-year-old could end up finding himself squeezed out.

He has dovetailed beautifully with Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in the Madrid attack this season, earning rave reviews for his goalscoring and tenacious workrate. 

When asked whether he could see himself with Madrid for the rest of his career, Rodrygo replied: "Yes, well, anything can happen. I have a contract here, but I don't know."

The quote was blown up, and much to the player’s consternation reports suggested that he would be on his way. 

Spanish media stated earlier this month that Liverpool had ALREADY failed in a €120 million bid for the Champions League finalist, as they seek a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. 

Liverpool BIG FANS of Rodrygo

Liverpool are big fans of Rodrygo. The Reds tried to sign the Brazilian before he moved to Real Madrid and for a fraction of the cost. 

Elano, who worked at Santos at the time, explained the situation in 2019. 

“There was a period when there was a very strong negotiation from Liverpool for him to leave when he was still very young,” Elano told ESPN. 

“The values ​​were very low, but he wanted to go. Real’s offer later was around 30 million euros (around £25m) more.

“I had a conversation with people at Santos and I said that the boy was worth the bet [of rejecting Liverpool's bid] and we should raise him because I would like to work with him."

The player himself recently admitted how close he came to moving to Merseyside.

“It had always been my dream to play in Europe," he told the Guardian. "Everything was very good, but my desire spoke louder. I wanted to stay at Santos and make a bit of history at the club. And that’s what happened: I was able to fulfil my dream of playing for Santos. But it’s true, I almost went to Liverpool.”

However, Rodrygo has now hit out at the reports which imply he will be leaving the club. 

“A very annoying situation occurred today, where one of my interviews was completely taken out of context,” he wrote on the social networking site X, formerly Twitter. 

“To be very direct, I am VERY happy at Real Madrid, I live a dream every day and it does NOT cross my mind to leave the club of my life!
