In the wake of both Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga being sidelined by injury until mid-January, Real Madrid could be forced into the market for another central midfielder this January.

One man being linked to fill the short-term void - and long-term one expected to be created by the departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos at the end of the season - is long-term Liverpool target Khéphren Thuram.

This week, fuelling speculation over a move, the 22-year-old's agent, Oscar Damiani, revealed that he has, in fact, offered the Nice midfielder to Real Madrid, citing Thuram's compatibility with the team.

"Khéphren would be a better fit at Real Madrid. I have already recommended him to Carlo Ancelotti," Damiani told Mundo Deportivo.

The French midfielder, highly regarded in European football circles, has piqued interest from numerous clubs, including Liverpool's rivals Manchester United.

Notably, as the son of former Barcelona and Juventus defender Lilian Thuram, Khéphren boasts a notable football lineage.

A midfield overhaul

At present, Ancelotti's team are rather short on midfield options, especially with England's Jude Bellingham being used as a false nine.

Tchouaméni, who has a stress fracture in his foot, was joined in the treatment room this week by his international teammate Camavinga, who sustained a torn knee ligament while away with France.

The contracts of Modric and Kroos, meanwhile, are set to expire at the season's end. Modric's recent absence from the starting line-up signals a probable departure, while Kroos has seen his name linked to the Premier League - and Manchester City, in particular - in recent times.

Signing a midfielder of Thuram's age and profile therefore would make sense for Los Blancos as they undergo a changing of the midfield guard.

Thuram's versatility, adept in both defensive and advanced positions, makes him an enticing prospect for Real Madrid should they decide to heed Damiani's counsel and pursue him.
