Liverpool transfer news: Juventus 'willing to talk' to Reds over summer deal
Juventus are reportedly "willing to talk" to Liverpool regarding a potential move for long-term target Federico Chiesa.
The Reds have frequently been linked with the explosive Juventus winger over the past few years, although the club have never made any formal proposals to the Italian giants.
The 26-year-old's contract expires in 2025 and, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are interested in tying the winger down to a new deal in Turin.
However, the Old Lady can't currently match the contract demands of Federico Chiesa, and they are sceptical about significantly increasing their offer to the attacker given his recent performances.
As a result, the Italian side are "willing to talk" to Chiesa's potential suitors over a summer transfer, with Tuttosport reporting that Liverpool "interest has not waned" regarding the 2020 European Championship winner.
Chiesa has been strongly linked with a Premier League move in recent years, including a switch to Aston Villa last summer, and the forward is open to a move to England.
However, despite regular links, a move for Chiesa looks unlikely given his price tag, recent form and injury record.
Liverpool supposedly asked for information regarding Chiesa last summer, but would need to fork out over £40m to open discussions with Juventus.
According to recent comments by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are set to target new wingers this summer, alongside strengthening the centre-back department.
Pedro Neto is the name most reliably linked with Anfield in that position, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers star having been in fantastic form again this term.
However, Liverpool's recruitment strategy and focus could be set for significant change in the coming weeks, with the club stepping up their search for a new sporting director.
The position is still vacant after Jorg Schmadtke's departure in February, with the club wanting a new sporting director before they pursue a successor to Jurgen Klopp.
Michael Edwards has been touted with a potential return to Merseyside, but the club's former sporting director wants a much more prominent role if he is to even consider coming back to Anfield.
