Potential Liverpool transfer target could make Manchester United switch
Liverpool transfer target Donyell Malen could be set to make his move to the Premier League in the foreseeable future, but he may well end up at Manchester United.
The Borussia Dortmund attacker has been linked with the Reds in the past, including prior to him signing with the German club when he was still at PSV Eindhoven.
Links with Malen have also surfaced more recently, with the former Arsenal academy product having enjoyed a fruitful season at Signal Iduna Park.
Touted as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, the Dutchman has netted four goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances this season and appears to have found a regular place on the right-hand side of Edin Terzic's front three.
However, if Liverpool were eying Malen, someone Klopp is said to be a huge admirer of, then they may need to fend off rivals Man Utd for his signature.
According to BILD Sport's Christian Falk, negotiations between Man Utd and Dortmund are currently taking place over a potential swap deal that would involve Malen heading to Old Trafford and Jadon Sancho returning to Germany.
Reportedly, Dortmund would either want a straight swap deal or would demand €30m (£26m) for Malen's signature.
Sancho has been frozen out at Man Utd after a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, with the Englishman expected to leave the club in the near future.
If Malen is being eyed as a replacement at Old Trafford, Liverpool will have to make a quick decision on whether to pursue the 24-year-old.
In all honesty, it appears unlikely that the Reds will make a move for Malen, despite sporting director Jorg Schmadtke having signed three players from the Bundesliga last summer.
Malen has been fairly inconsistent during his time in Dortmund and would certainly be a pretty poor replacement for Salah should the Egyptian leave.
Regardless of his impressive current form, Man Utd are sure to ruin him if he does eventually make the switch to England.
