Liverpool ‘confident’ of striking SENSATIONAL €50m Real Sociedad swap deal
Heading into the last week of the January transfer window and Liverpool don’t appear to be in a worse place in regards to Mo Salah and his contract - but they’re not exactly in a better one.
He hasn’t signed a pre-agreement with any other team at time of writing and his biggest suitor in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain, opted instead to splash the cash on Georgian superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Yet Salah is still not signed with the Reds beyond the end of this season and a smart club would be doing their due diligence on any potential replacement options should worst come to worst.
Seemingly, that is happening. And one rumour has been for Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo.
Kubo has become an established name in European football over the past few seasons. He followed up his 18 goal involvements in the 2022/23 season with 12 last season.
And after a period of poor form he has established himself back in the Sociedad side to already be on eight goal involvements so far this season, including the only goal in a 1-0 win over Villarreal just under two weeks ago.
And a new report by El Nacional indicates that Liverpool may be about to pull of a serious deal for him.
Liverpool want to swap Chiesa for Kubo
“During this campaign he has recovered his best form, after a few very irregular months in which he even lost his place in Imanol Alguacil 's systems, and this has served to make Anfield consider signing him again.” Reads the report.
“He has a termination clause valued at 60 million euros that the English team could pay without any kind of inconvenience, although they will try to negotiate with the Basque board so that he can leave for less.”
But with this being quite pricey, the report states that Liverpool are willing to throw in Federico Chiesa as a sweetener to try and get Sociedad to agree to a lower overall price.
“But Liverpool are confident that Real Sociedad will accept the offer of 50 million euros, in addition to the services of the former Fiorentina player, in order to bring in Kubo.” write El Nacional.
Chiesa is currently enjoying his longest solid run in Liverpool’s squads so far this season due to the rest of it being plagued by recurring injuries.
He finally scored his first goal for the Reds in the FA Cup third round victory over Accrington Stanley and threatened again in a cameo against Lille in the Champions League midweek.
But the club seem to be seriously regretting their investment and, due to his high wages, are keen to either see an instant return or another option.
Kubo appears to be exactly that.
