Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has donated money to a GoFundMe page which has been set up to help the grieving families after the Southport attack.

Three children, Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine were killed in the tragic ordeal which happened on 29 July.

The stabbings happened during a Taylor Swift dance class which was taking place at the Hart Space on Hart Street in Southport.

The suspect who has been charged with three counts of murder, as well as 10 counts of attempted murder, was named Axel Rudakubana after the judge at Liverpool Crown Court lifting reporting restrictions.

GERRARD LEAVES MESSAGE TO FAMILIES

Gerrard, who has been working in Saudi Arabia managing Al-Ettifaq for the last 12 months, left a message on the GoFundMe page.

He stated that the families were in his thoughts after: “this horrific attack on innocent young lives. Sending love to you all x.”

At the moment the Southport Dance Group Emergency Fund GoFundMe has raised over £100,000 thanks to donations from far and wide to help.

Former Everton and current Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has also donated £10,000 with the money set to go straight to the families that have been affected by the attack.

Taylor Swift commented on the attack stating she was ‘at a complete loss’ over the incident.

She posted on her Instagram story saying: “The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I'm just completely in shock.”

Swift’s fans have set up another fundraiser coming together with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. It will provide money towards the families and the funeral costs of the three children who passed.

In Southport, there have been lots of flowers and notes written as a tribute for the three young girls as the community comes together to mourn their losses.
